My internship journey
I don't know about you, but i try and stay positive... Sometimes you got to do things for the sake of it. Even though many people don't understand what kind of position you are in, at that moment in time. The reason why i struggle is because I don't like to think that i'm a failure, a burden, a disappointment or a quitter. For a matter of fact this is why i just need to keep pushing forward, even though i feel like i'm carrying a tonne of bricks on my back.
At the very start of my journey, i was excited! hungry to learn and so optimistic about what my future here had install for me. I was like a little girl, opening up her first present on christmas day. When i got my first interview i was ecstatic, i kept following-up and following-up until i had an answer if i was successful or not by then i had my second interview.
At the very beginning i asked a lot of questions, even those that was not related to my career interest... i just asked because i can. Being this optimistic at the very start made me say yes! to all the opportunities that was offered to me, even though i wasn't 100% sure that i will like it.. my WHY NOT? attitude took over me. What harm can this do but overall benefit me? besides i'm here to learn. Isn't this the main reason why we participate in internships? Instead i carried on more than i can chew... i ended up doing something i didn't like and it made me looked and feel under skilled than i was.
I'm not here to criticise the organisation i did my internship with but i just want to share my experience. Don't get me wrong... i've learnt a lot! Its just that i realise that this isn't for me. This experience hasn't discouraged me from wanting to work in the industry i've currently invested the past 2 years of my life in, but made me realise who i wanted to work for in the future and what type of person i wanted to be.
I've realise that i may have it better than most, hearing stories about doing petty errands and grabbing the morning coffee is not what i call gaining experience. But i realise that transferring theories into practical skills is harder than we think. I guess i can see why universities make it compulsory to have this real life experience because its invaluable. All i can say is that i'm struggling to keep my head held high but i'm just going to push forward until i get there...
Can you relate?

International Fleet Review - Royal Australian Navy
Sydney Australia 3-11 October 2013
Its the long weekend! and the Navy Fleet is here! one of the vantage points were at Nielsen Park. Unfortunately i wasn't able to attend the event at night to see the fireworks and the opera house light show for the Navy Fleet. If you have the time, i would really recommend checking it out, its a great way of spending time with the family or friends. An event that expects 1.7 million patron to come through to this event.

IMATS Sydney! - International Makeup Artists Trade Show
Very delayed post! Hi guys, i decided to go to IMATS this year as i needed to stock up my makeup and use this as an excuse to spend $$$! IMATS is a two day event held in Sydney at the Sydney's convention centre and i went to the first day of the event 21st September 2013.
Sit in a seminar and get learning! |
Makeup is not only about being beautiful, be creative! |
Something new! IMATS makeup museum |
IMATS Makeup Haul |
If you're deciding to go IMATS i really recommend going on the first day and that 1 day is enough. Also on the second day the best sellers are going to be sold out and they do not restock from what i recall. My friend got this really nice Makeup forever lipstick and three hours later it was sold out! I also hated the fact that Scotty's Makeup displayed products that was not onsite for purchase which defeats the purpose in my opinion and the staff could've been more helpful and happy.
I really think customer service is important and this really what i look for when i decide to buy a product and its the factor that distinguish if i want to be a repeated customer. Like velour lashes, even though they had to ship most of their products out to their customers on the day of IMATS. They had really good customer service, so i didn't mind.
So IMATS this years was cray! i love that they've added new stalls such as Limecrime and Velour Lashes. What was new for me this year was the Makeup museum which i appreciate when you want to get away from the chaos and having the option to buy food within the venue. I also noticed that MakeupMedia setup was way more organised than the last time i went, which i appreciated but the line was still long! WARNING! Makeup lovers can be aggressive!

Defqon 1. 2013
Hi Guys,
I went to my first Defqon 1. Music Festival and i know that this type of festival doesn't really appeal to the mass market but i wanted to go and experience this event. I got to say that i enjoyed it and that the atmosphere was great. The lines for food and drinks weren't long at all, which was great! I felt like people there were there for the music, which was why i thought it was such a great atmosphere.
Tokens to buy food & drinks! |
